Regnomics
Reganomics denotes the economic policies of President Ronald Reagan in the 1980s. He sought to remedy the high inflation and recessions of the 1970s, which conservatives attributed to the heavy burden government imposed on private enterprise.

Sandra Day O'ConnerSandra Day O'Connor (March 26, 1930- January 31, 2006) was the first woman appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court. A Republican, she was considered a moderate conservative and served for 24 years. Sandra Day O'Connor was elected to two terms in the Arizona state senate. In 1981, Ronald Reagan nominated her as a justice of the U.S. Supreme Court and she received unanimous Senate approval. O'Connor made history as the first woman justice to serve on the Supreme Court. |
Fall of the Berlin Wall
The Berlin Wall was a barrier that divided Berlin from 1961 to 1989. It was officially referred to as the "Anti-Fascist Protection Rampart". On midnight of 9 November 1989 marks the infamous fall of the Berlin Wall and on the same day, East Germany's Communist rulers gave permission for gates along the Wall to be opened as a result of days of mass protest. After almost 30 years of separation they took down the Berlin Wall.
George Operation Desert Storm
On this day in 1990, President George Herbert Walker Bush orders the organization of Operation Desert Shield in response to Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait on August 2. The order prepared American troops to become part of an international coalition in the war against Iraq that would be launched as Operation Desert Storm in January 1991. To support Operation Desert Shield, Bush authorized a dramatic increase in U.S. troops and resources in the Persian Gulf. The Operation Desert Storm was the first major conflict after the cold. Before this U.S. provided Iraq with military aid during the Iraq and Iran war.

NAFTA and Impeachment
As president, Clinton committed his administration to ending 12 years of "legislative gridlock" and "social neglect." To create jobs, he persuaded the Senate to ratify the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), eliminating tariff barriers between Canada, Mexico, and the United States. In 1995, 21 year old Monica Lewinsky began an unpaid internship in the White House. When it was discovered that Lewinsky and Clinton were having inappropriate relations, Clinton was issued two articles of impeachment: perjury, and obstruction of justice. After the five week trial, Clinton was acquitted by the Senate and fund not guilty on both charges.

He oversaw the country's longest peacetime economic expansion. He created welfare reform in Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Act which ended Aid to Families with Dependent Children and reduced the number of Welfare programs, which received support from both political parties. |
